A failing roof in mid-January and one week until the doors opened!  With new carpeting, drywall, sewing machines and miles of fabric, the clock was ticking! The 14,000 square foot coal tar pitch system had failed and the insulation was saturated.  Ponding water had damaged the roof and the tenant could not afford disruption once the store opened. On the heels of significant snow in December plus two straight weeks of below-freezing temperatures, the roof was an ice skating rink!

Project Highlights

• All of the snow and ice were removed. 
• A new 60‐mil reinforced TPO roof assembly from Firestone was installed over 3.3 inches of insulation to comply with Illinois energy code. 
• Interior carpeting was protected by tarps throughout the process.
• Project was completed without delay to the tenant’s schedule.
