Process for Installing a Fully-Adhered Roof

Below is a step-by-step demonstration of how we install a fully-adhered energy efficient roof:

STEP 1

Original roof is removed down to the concrete deck.

STEP 2

Surface is cleaned with a blower and broom to remove any debris to ensure proper adhesion between the new roof and the concrete deck.

STEPS 3 & 4

A low-rise adhesive is applied in a ribbon-pattern and the insulation is set on top of the adhesive. Counter-weights are used to hold the insulation panels in place.

STEP 5

The membrane sheet is rolled out and folded over.

STEP 6

The bonding adhesive is applied to the insulation.

STEP 7

The back side of the TPO sheet receives bonding adhesive.

STEP 8

Once the glue “flashes off” the TPO sheet is adhered to the insulation board.

STEP 9

A hot-air leister varimat is used to weld the two membrane sheets together at the seam. This is done at a uniform temperature of approximately 1100 degrees. All of the seams are overlapped 6” and the finish weld is 1 ½ inches wide.

STEP 10

Every day, the seams are probed by hand to ensure a proper weld.
